  • Donkey Fund Initiative

In 2022 Victoria Friendly Montessori launched a solar-powered water project to pump lake water to 2,400 homes and 5 community points. Clean water will flow by gravity across villages — empowering women, boosting food production, and transforming lives sustainably.

    From Lake to Life

Rusinga Island in Homa Bay County relies on agriculture and fishing, but prolonged drought has increased household vulnerability. Widows and single mothers faced failed crops, low income, and water shortages that threatened food security. Through the Donkey Fund Project, donkeys were provided to transport water for irrigation, improving harvests, health, and incomes by up to 50–70 percent. Victoria Friendly Montessori also introduced small-scale farming training and Savings and Internal Lending groups to strengthen livelihoods sustainably.

    Transforming Lives through Education

Victoria Friendly Montessori, established in 2014 in Rusinga Island, provides quality education to vulnerable children from fishing and farming communities. The school offers modern facilities, dedicated teachers, and a structured feeding program with two nutritious meals daily. It also supports hygiene, menstrual health, and self-reliance through activities such as kitchen gardening. Continued support is needed to expand its impact and reach more children in need.
